The graph below shows the proportion of the population aged 65 and over between 1940 and 2040 in three different countries. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main feature and make comparisons where relevant.

The line graphs show the ratio of population in three different countries called Japan , Sweden and USA over the age of 64 from the year 1940 to 2040. Overall, as we can see from the graph Japan has the highest ratio of population over the age of 65.

In the year 1940 the percentage of population over aged 65 in Japan was 5 whereas Sweden contain 7 % or population and USA consist of about 10 percent. Further more from the year 1960 to 1980 the ratio increased in USA (15%) and Sweden (14 %) whereas in Japan the ratio declined by 3%.

However from the year 1980 to 2040 the ratio of population in Japan raised to the peak value of 26% where as in USA and Sweden there e is some fluctuation in percentages and than in year 2040 they raised their percentage by 25 and 26 %.

In conclusion, the ratio of population having an age of 65 and over in Japan, Sweden and USA is increasing with the period of time.
