Health is one of the most important sectors of the government. Therefore, proper allocation and prioritization of heath budget is necessary. There are those who suggest that disease prevention is to be the main focus.

It is important for a nation to maintain and promote the health of its citizens. This can be better achieved by way of health education and preventive measures such as diagnostic procedures. Forcusing more on actions to prevent the occurrence of critical and long- term diseases would greatly decrease the costs that the government usually allots on health.

Another significant benefit is that educating the masses on health increases the awareness and knowledge of the people on proper health practices and hygiene.moreover, promoting diagnostic procedures such as Computed Tomography Scan (CT Scan) enables early detection of signs of medical conditions which at that time can still be easily managed.

In addition, funding disease prevention projects such as programs on aerobics and cardiovascular exercises can significantly lower the mortality and morbidity rates of diseases as well as increase the level of fitness of a person. Furthermore, the prevalence of epidemic diseases will be lessened or even be eliminated.

In conclusion, the quotation, “prevention is better than cure” speaks of the truth. The government and the individuals would benefit more if disease prevention and health education are prioritized.
