Children are the future of a country. Keeping that in mind, governments have invested heavily to the development of education systems. Hence, some might think that parents now play less important roles than teachers in children’s intellectual and social development. However, this viewpoint is not adequate and this essay will present the reasons for that.

First of all, parents are the people who will guide their children for the rest of their lives. Regardless of which school children go, parents always stay side by side with them. Because of this intimate relationship, children usually have a tendency to learn from their parents. They imitate their parents’ behaviors since they believe their parents always do the right things. Hence, parents still play a significant role in their children development.

Secondly, teaching is also an occupation that has got its own office hours. In other words, teachers normally perform their duties such as transferring knowledge to their students within their office hours. In addition, they can only teach students what is on the schedule and in the curriculum. Beyond that, it is totally the jobs of parents to teach their children how to behave in the society.

Furthermore, parents are liable for their children’s behaviors. Because of this, it is fair to say that parents should be more responsible for the development of their children. Teachers can only help students to distinguish what is right and wrong. However, fixing teenagers’ attitudes and behaviors still relies in the efforts of their parents.

All in all, it is clear that parents play as significant roles as teachers in children’s intellectual and social development.
