Knowing more languages is always beneficial. In today’s society, it helps people have more job opportunities. Hence, many children are asked to learn a foreign language at their early age by their parents. This essay will give you different reasons as to why this approach should be encouraged.

Firstly, learning a foreign language is always a prolonged process. Languages are special subjects which foremost require a great deal of practice and exercises. Regardless of one’s intelligence, he or she still has to spend at least 10,000 of hours of hard work to master a language. Therefore, it is advantageous for children to prepare and learn a language from the early age rather than studying it at a later stage.

Secondly, it is easier to learn a language for children. It has been scientifically proven children can learn a language faster than adults. For example, it takes longer time for an average adult to remember the same amount of new vocabulary than a child. Hence, children should be encouraged to learn foreign languages.

Finally, knowing a foreign language helps children broaden their friendship network. For example, children learning a foreign language normally have a tendency to practice the language with other children who are learning the same subject even though they are not in the same classroom. As a result, this helps children make friends.

In a nutshell, learning a language can be significantly time consuming which can be easier for children to study. Besides that, it helps them make new friends. Hence, all children should be encouraged to learn foreign languages in school starting in the earliest grades.
