In my opinion, there are mainly two reasons for this popularity, good performance of the team and financial reward they are receiving nowadays. \u003c/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eTo begin with, I think the main reason for this increasing popularity is excellent performance by teams over the period of a time. Due to this, majority of the nations who plays cricket have won the ICC world cup at least once. For example, before 1983 ICC world cup, Cricket was not famous among people of the India, they were following another sport Hockey, which was one of the famous sports at that time due the exceptional performance of our Hockey players. This is the reason India is one of the top performers in all ICC tournaments and holding 1st rank in One Day (ODI) cricket. \u003c/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eAnother reason of popularity is, financial reward offered to players these days. In terms of money, cricket players earning a huge amount of money from various adverts, league contracts such as IPL(Indian Premier League) and BBL(Big Bash league).
