Some people argue that the government should only support scientific research with their limited funds as it is more useful than other subjects. However, I disagree with the statement, and I believe that subjects like public health, education, and environment research are as importantly as science related subjects.

The advocate of providing funds to scientific research alone is understandable. As technology is the driving force of pushing countries forward, spending money on scientific research is a reasonable option. A scientific breakthrough will not only boost the countries in different realms, such as the economy, national power, and national reputation but also bring long-term benefits to the human race. For example, it is the powerful support from the US government that made the moon landing possible and then opening the gate of space exploration for the human. Therefore, scientific research seems to be a more useful subject to some people.

However, those advocates might ignore the contributions of other subjects slightly. As mentioned above, some subjects are studying people’s health, how to educate effectively, and natural environment is extremely important. As I believe, these subjects are more likely to contribute to society in our daily lives. Studying on health will promote the public awareness of health preserving, for example, experts can give advice on people’s diet structure so as to enhance the percentage of the well-fit workforce, who are the direct labour force of economic development. Education research can foster professionals to work on cultivating competent students and environment research can gain more sustainable development consciousness on governments. As a result, these subjects are not less useful even more useful in the perspective based on daily life.

In conclusion, although scientific research is a significant role on countries’ development, other subjects like health, education and environment subjects are also quite important that no one should ignore.
