In some societies, stress is now regarded as a major problem, and it is thought that people suffer from more stree than they this in the past. However, other feel that the amount of stress people have today is exaggerated. They say that previous generations were under more pressure, the the idea of suffering from stress did not exist. Discuss both these views and give your opinions.
Stress is such a hot potato people have to cope with during their life time. Many hold the opinion that people is under a lot of pressure nowadays. Others, however, disagree and point out we do suffer less pressure but more complaint than our ancestor. Each opinion has its own reasons, so I will discuss both views in depth.
On the one hand, the previous generations experienced great stress because of poor living conditions. In the past, there was a shortage of food supplies, health care services, etc. For instance, just after Doi Moi, Vietnamese people rarely had a nutritious meal with rice, meat and vegetable. As a consequence, their health totally damaged while the health care services had not improved yet. They saved their life themselves. Those cause such bad pressure. Besides, at that time, their secretive lifestyle was still afftected by social conventions. They did not feel free to express their feelings so stress was still a strange defination, although it did happen.
On the other hand, nowadays stress definitely affects people due to competitiveness in job opportunities. Our world is now experiencing so recuitment needs is reduced. Eventually, to be employed in a small company becomes difficult. This easily causes depression. Moreover, speanding most of the time working, people hardly have time to do leisure activities, which leads them to lose their balance between work and pleasure. It becomes a long-term stress, if there is no treatment. The sighnificant increase in suicide rate is believed as the result of bearing stress for a long time. The modern world with strict requirements forces people to cope with difficulties.
In conclusion, stress has affected people of many generations. The differences is we know how to express while our ancestor did not.
