What is the difference between 'for years to come' and 'for the coming years'?

Both are correct in grammar. However, there is one difference:

'For years to come' sounds like a very long time to me.

'For the coming years' suggests only a few years.

For example: Sale Managers should expect this trend to continue for years to come => This trend will continue for many years.
