What is the difference between Following and Below?

Following is used to refer to something which will be mentioned right after what you are talking about. (LOGICAL POSITION)

Below has almost the same meaning. The only difference is that Below is used when you are focusing more on the position (in print) of the subject you are going to mention. (PHYSICAL POSITION)

Example:

1) Following is the list of subjects which are available in this semester.

2) Below is the list of available subjects in this semester.

3) The following list of subjects will be known by students at the end of this month.
