The graph below shows the proportion of the population aged 65 and over between 1940 and 2040 in three different countries. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main feature and make comparisons where relevant.

The graph compares the percentages of the people with the age of 65 and over in the USA, Japan and Sweden starting from 1940 and until 2040. As an overall trend, it can be precisely seen that the figures representing all states showed an upward trend over the same period.
Pursuant to the graph, starting from 1940 the percentages belonged to the USA and Sweden followed similar pattern until 2000, where they recorded about 14%. Over the span of 20 years, the numbers concerning to both countries experienced opposite trends, where 65 year old population of Sweden overtook that of the USA with only 6% difference reaching 20%, while the indicator of the population aged 65 and over in USA leveled off. Not quite similarly, the USA and Sweden faced steady growth by the end of the period , where they were responsible for 23 and 25% sequentically.
In sharp contrast to the USA and Sweden, recorded figures of population aged 65 and over in Japan maintained stability with a slight fluctuation from 1940 to 2020. Afterwards, the indicator increased with a linear rate where it was accountible for about 27% in 2040.
