The IELTS Speaking test is in the form of a one-to-one interview.
There are three parts to the Speaking test.
Timing: The whole interview takes between 12 and 14 minutes. The table below shows an overview of the Speaking test format and the approximate timing of each:
• Part 1: Introduction and interview (4-5 minutes)
The examiner tries to ask a number of easy questions to which the candidate should answer fully.

• Part 2: Individual long turn (3-4 minutes)
You have to give a short talk for 1-2 minutes on a topic chosen by the examiner.
You have a minute to prepare and speaks on the topic without stopping.

• Part 3: 2-way discussion (4-5 minutes)
The candidate is presented with more abstract questions broadly linked to the topic in Part 2
